Overview

Version covered: 1.8.0. Povoxxx is a compact vocal processor for lead vocals, spoken vocals, and vocal effects. The chain is fixed so the workflow stays fast.

Signal path: input vocal -> Gate -> Vocal Rider -> Comp -> Doubler -> Bright -> Saturation -> Air -> De-Ess -> Megaphone -> Room Reverb -> Long Reverb -> Output.

Installation

Compatibility

  • macOS 11 or newer
  • Apple Silicon Mac for the current build
  • AU and VST3 plugin formats
  • Intel Mac, Windows, AAX, and VST2 are not included yet

Install Steps

  1. Open Povoxxx-1.8.0-Installer.dmg.
  2. Run Povoxxx Installer.app.
  3. Restart your DAW or rescan plugins.

The installer copies the AU and VST3 to:

~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/Povoxxx.component
~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Povoxxx.vst3

If macOS blocks the installed bundles, run:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/Povoxxx.component
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3/Povoxxx.vst3

Validate the AU in Terminal:

auval -v aufx Poxx PovA

Bypass and Automation

Click a module label to bypass or re-enable that module. The knob keeps its value and the bypassed module is dimmed. Main knobs, tone sliders, power, and bypass states are host parameters.

Povoxxx also exposes an optional sidechain input. When the host provides a sidechain and RIDER is active, the rider can use sidechain-aware behavior. Without a sidechain, RIDER still works as a normal vocal level rider.

Troubleshooting

Povoxxx does not appear in the DAW

Confirm the AU/VST3 files are installed, restart the DAW, and rescan plugins.
